Aristonate C-5000: What You (And Your OEM) Need To Know

Aristonate C-5000: What You (And Your OEM) Need To Know

The straight oil space can be complex, and there’s not one right answer when it comes to incorporating corrosion inhibitors into a particular formulation. Every application can—and, frankly, should—be treated as unique. Aristonate C-5000 makes that possible.

If you’re a formulator and have questions about Aristonate C-5000’s performance or price, contact our team today.

Formulators, we understand that this isn’t a simple purchase decision—this is a performance decision. If you’re bringing a new product to your OEM, you want to be ready to answer their questions. Our goal is to give you the answers you need to begin formulating with Aristonate C-5000.

What’s wrong with what we’re already using?

Corrosion inhibitors created with materials such as barium work. With that said, now more than ever, they could be creating a hassle for formulators in many application spaces who need to meet EPA regulations without sacrificing performance.

How can Aristonate C-5000 help me avoid that hassle?

Aristonate C-5000 often meets, if not exceeds, the performance of chemical equivalents and alternatives. Because is made by direct neutralization, it carries the additional benefit of avoiding potential impurities present in those alternate options.

Synthetic calcium sulfonates, namely Aristonate C-5000, do not contain solvents, chlorides, sodium or barium. It won’t raise concerns from the EPA, and it also won’t derail the performance of your product.

What about emulsification?

Emulsification concerns are valid. Typically, calcium sulfonates aren’t incorporated above 1 to 2 percent for this exact reason. When water is incorporated in straight oils, corrosion becomes a possibility.

Luckily, Aristonate C-5000 has a markedly high demulsibility profile. In fact, it can be added at up to 5% concentration. That means formulators can add more into their product than other options, giving it strong rust resistance capabilities.

We understand that you can’t just take our word for it, so we put Aristonate C-5000 to the test(s). Find out how it performed below!

What else do I need to know about this product?

Aristonate C-5000 offers different benefits depending on the application. We can’t address every nuance of every formulation, but nonetheless, these general truths of Aristonate C-5000 are worth mentioning:

  • carries no flash concerns
  • has a high molecular weight and relatively low viscosity
  • creates little foam
  • is highly branched and oil soluble

Here’s the bottom line: numerous applications fall under the “straight oils” umbrella, including passenger motors, hydraulics, gears, turbines and more. Regardless of how they’re used, straight oils should be formulated with rust prevention at top of mind. Most applications require the use of a rust inhibitor—the challenge is ensuring it’s compatible with the rest of the formulation, while meeting regulations without sacrificing performance. Aristonate C-5000 makes overcoming that challenge easier than ever.

We understand that OEM approvals are costly and time-consuming, and we’re confident that Aristonate C-5000 is worth it. Are you interested in trying a sample, on us? Contact our team below!
